How To Avoid Yeast Infections While On Antibiotics

I know how Yeast Infections are so hard to get rid of. Especially, after taking a dose of antibotics. Your body is now vulnerable and your good bacteria has been depleted.  I have been there too many times.

After much trial and error, these solutions on how to avoid yeast infections while on antibiotics are what has worked for me over the years.

How To Avoid Yeast Infections While On Antibiotics?

There are many steps to take on how to avoid yeast infections on antibiotics.

These steps I will mention and what was proven to work for me can also be useful for those suffer from chronic yeast infections.

Perhaps, the chronic yeast infections came from a dose on antibiotics, or just from not giving the love your vagina deserves.

Steps to take to avoid yeast infections:

  • A daily usage of Probiotic
  • Coconut oil applied topically to protect skin barrier.
  • Not washing the inside of vagina lips. Switching your soap to a  natural soap free wash instead for the outer parts.
  • Tea tree oil if cuts from scratching arises or fungus growth on skin.
  • Boric Acid inserted vaginally. NOT ORALLY
  • Switching to organic condoms.
  • Breathable Underwear
  • Switching your laundry detergent to one that is free from chemicals and perfumes.
  • A natural gut cleanse.

Probiotics To Prevent Yeast Infections

Probiotics are a great way to prevent to overgrowth of yeast infections in the gut. This could be an effective preventative protocol and treatment option for those who suffer from Candida.

Probiotics won’t work overnight. They need a good 3 weeks to alter the gut bacteria.

A good quality probiotic for yeast infections should contain more than probiotics in the capsules to achieve maximum results:

  • Digestive Enzymes to help your body digest and absorb vitamins from foods.
  • Prebiotics to feed the Probiotic to thrive in the gut.
  • Micro-encapsulations for the substance to make it all the way through your digestive track before the probiotic dying.

If I had to pick just one product for my Yeast Infections,  Organic Olivia’s Probiotic would be it.

How To Use Boric Acid For Yeast Infection

Boric Acid is a great way to find fast relief of yeast infections. This is NOT to be consumed orally. It has to be inserted vaginally. Always do so at night for the formula to stay inside longer.

I wouldn’t recommend a daily usage. Boric Acid is actually toxic so make sure there are no open wounds on the outer layer of your vagina.

Again, this advice is from my personal experiences and will never and should not replace the advice of your doctor.

I have particularly used this brand so this is the one I will recommend.

Tea Tree Oil For Yeast Infections

I have been applying tea tree oil topically to ease itching for many many years now. The Tea Tree Oil has a cooling effect and I find it great relief from the itching.

This is what works for me. It may not work for every body.

Always dilute the oil as it can be really strong on the skin. I also apply coconut or olive oil to not dry out the skin and cause more itching.

What Kind Of Coconut Oil Is Best For Yeast infections

Like I mentioned earlier in this post, applying a good oil to the outer layer of your vagina will help protect or heal your skin barrier.  When you have a yeast infection, the itching can be uncontrollable. Anything can irritate it such as toilet paper and underwear.

Don’t skip this step if you really want to start seeing some improvements.

The best coconut oil should be organic and unrefined. Unrefined could also be called Virgin Coconut Oil. This means the coconut oil has not been processed. Refined coconut oil has been depleted of it’s good benefits. A refined coconut oil will have no taste or smell.

I love Nutiva as it is organic, virgin and inexpensive.

Best Perfume Free Laundry Detergent

A perfume free especially a natural derived laundry detergent will play a crucial role in helping fight the Yeast Infections. Perfume does not belong on your underwear. Perfume is an irritant and will disrupt your vaginal’s PH. It can also create atopic dermatitis which can be the cause to your itching.

I recommend this naturally derived laundry detergent as it is perfume-free, chlorine-free, eco responsible along many other chemicals.

Best Wash For Yeast Infections

Something to clarify as not every woman understands this, but your vagina is self-cleansing. This means soap should not be used to clean it.

You may clean the outer part of your vagina with a soap free formula if you wish. If you have very sensitive skin, I wouldn’t recommend washing at all down there but if you must, I recommend this soap free natural wash.

This wash contains only 7 ingredients which are all natural. I have been using this for over a year. This bottle will last you at least 6 months if not, more.

A Gut Cleanse For Yeast Infections

I highly recommend a gut cleanse if you struggle with yeast infection. This will aid getting rid of the pathogenic bacteria in your gut.

Yeast overgrowth has now won the battle over the good bacteria so this is a great protocol to reset the gut.

You can read my review on why I chose to take a gut cleanse and how it’s helped me with my gut and chronic illnesses such as IBS, Yeast Infections, UTI’s & Eczema.

How To Prevent Yeast Infections After Sex

Just like you should always pee after sex, you should also always rinse your vagina with water.

Switching to organic condoms as well is going to be one of the best things to do if you keep getting yeast infections after sex.

Condoms contain: Nonoxynol-9, Glycerin, Benzocaine, Lidocaine, Nitrosamines, Parabens, Sillicone, Dry-Dusting powder.

This is GROSS and does not belong in your poor little vagina.

Best organic condoms I recommend are:
Sustain,
Glyde,
Lola

Best Underwear For Yeast Infections

Loose Cotton underwear is the best for breathability. I particularly wear calvin klein for bed and during the day.

Did you know nylon, polyesteracrylic and polyamide contain plastic?

This does not belong down there etheir.

If you struggle with yeast infections, it’s important that your bottom clothing are also loose fighting and breathable. Do not wear tight skirts with tight nylons.

How To Keep Yeast Infections From Coming Back

All these measures above are great practices on how to keep yeast infections from coming back.

But, it keeps coming back. Now what?

A gut cleanse would be a great option at targeting the root cause of your issues. It has been a great success for me on getting rid of UTI’s , Yeast Infections and IBS for me. Treating things on the surface may not be enough.
