Have you ever wondered why women take so long to get ready? Well, it all comes down to their makeup and skincare routine.
Foundation is an essential item, as it is used to even out skin tone and hide wrinkles and lines. In certain cases, it is applied as a moisturizing agent. We found that chemical-free foundations are a much better choice given the fact that you are reaping the benefits without risking that your skin dries out or loses elasticity.
We have done some market research and created a list of the best natural foundations, highlighting both budget-friendly and high-end products. Let’s get started!
Natural Foundations Reviews
Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation
The first product that we wanted to test comes from Juice Beauty, which is one of the most recognizable brands in this sphere. Coming in a 1-ounce bottle and free of any chemicals, it is a product that we effectively used for more than a month. What we were most impressed by is the full coverage and radiant finish that it is highlighted by!
First and foremost, it is great to know that this product comes in several color variants. We could choose between Sand, Buff, Golden Tan, Rosy Beige, Desert Beige, Natural Tan, Tawny, and a variety of other options. Highlighted by Phyto-Pigments, which is the perfect substitute for artificial dyes, we found that this product is suitable for all ages and skin tones.
The reason we ordered it in the first place is because it doesn’t have a single chemical in its composition. This goes a long way when it comes to protecting your skin from wrinkles/lines, and it allows you to use this product on a regular basis. Along with the Phyto-Pigments derived from botanicals, the main ingredients are grapeseed and fruit stem cells.
According to numerous studies, these are rich in resveratrol and can be used as an anti-aging serum. Not only that, but the organic aloe barbadensis juice, organic safflower oil organic glycerin, and coconut alkanes play an essential role in moisturization.
We also enjoyed the user-friendly application, as it all came down to putting the foundation on the skin and blending it in using your fingertips. This product should be well shaken before you apply it. The liquid separation is probably the one and only issue that we found with the Juice Beauty foundation.
Overall, it is a reasonably priced product that is vegan-friendly and made according to the latest sustainability standards.
- Reasonable price
- Liquid separation can occur
100% PURE Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation
The 100% PURE brand has been around for several years manufacturing cruelty-free makeup. For this reason, we were quite confident that this foundation would not disappoint us.
The first thing that we want to discuss is the versatility of this product. It is available in Cocoa, Creme, Sand, Toffee, and White Peach. You can choose between these color variations depending on your skin tone. All foundations offer full coverage, which is why we had an easy time both evening out our makeup color and hiding wrinkles and fine lines.
The one we ordered was Cocoa, which is made for deep skin tone and does not feature any harmful artificial dyes. Much like the aforementioned product, this one uses natural pigments derived from peach, apricot, and cocoa seeds. Frankly, the flawless coverage of this product is what we were most impressed by.
As for the ingredients, it is essential to say that the 100% PURE Fruit Pigmented Healthy Foundation is 100% vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. The first compound is organic aloe vera juice and leaf extract, which is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C. It helps with the moisturizing effect and provides anti-aging properties.
Along with it, there is the Oryza Sativa Starch, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, and the aforementioned fruit extracts that make this foundation lightweight and easy to apply. We did find the matte finish to be a spectacular solution for anyone who doesn’t want shiny skin. It is also cool that this product doesn’t feature gluten and is hypoallergenic.
If it allows an array of great properties, what is wrong with it? We have complaints regarding the bottle pump that this product comes in. After a couple of days, we had issues with getting the foundation out in the same consistency.
Other than that, we were quite satisfied with the coverage and the moisturizing effect that this product provided.
- No animal testing
- Phyto-Pigments from botanicals
- Fruit stem cells
- Matte finish
- Cheap packaging
Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation
Moving on with our list of the best natural foundations, we came across a product that is advertised to be perfect for those with oily skin and dark tone. This is something that we wanted to test, which is why we ordered the Medium Dark variant.
As we expected, this foundation does come in a liquid form. However, we didn’t have any issues with making sure that it stays the same consistency, as just a couple of quick shakes (before application) did the trick. Keep in mind that this product won’t work if you have a lighter skin tone, in which case you may want to check out other foundations that we have reviewed.
Breathable and highlighted by a satin finish, we enjoyed the radiant appeal and moisturizing feel that this product provided us with. The glow that it features comes as a result of the mineral pigments and dry mineral oils that Vapour Organic consists of. The fact that it can be applied both to sensitive and combination skin is a great quality guarantee.
A single 1.14-ounce bottle can last you for at least a month of continuous use. Most importantly, the featured fatty acids and antioxidants play an essential role in moisturizing and restoring elasticity to your skin. What we are quite concerned about is that this foundation doesn’t provide full coverage.
The light and thin consistency goes a long way in terms of breathability but certainly isn’t the best if you want to hide all the wrinkles and fine lines. Other than that, it is a well-made organic product that anyone with sensitive or combination skin should try out.
- Affordable price
- Radiant/satin finish
- Antioxidants and fatty acids
- Easy to apply
- For sensitive/combination skin
- Not for light skin tones
- Thin consistency
RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up Concealer & Foundation
Searching for a makeup product that works both as a cream concealer and a foundation, we came across this RMS Beauty product that is advertised to support healthy skin. Coming in a 0.2-ounce bottle and a variety of colors, including Cream, Medium Dark, Peach, Rose, and Extreme Dark, we enjoyed trying out a couple of different variants.
The skin tone that this product is suitable for depends on the color of the foundation that you choose. Luckily, with the wide array of combinations, we didn’t have a tough time finding the one that we were interested in. The formula is quite impressive, as there are no artificial ingredients and all of the compounds are organic and rich in resveratrol.
Coconut oil and castor seed oil are well-known for their anti-aging and moisturizing properties. Most importantly, these are rich in fatty acids, which are responsible for restoring skin elasticity. Along with that, there is also jojoba seed oil, tocopherol, and rosemary extract.
We were quite impressed with the effect that it leaves on the skin by preventing drying out and providing a radiant finish. If you have any eczema, fine lines, wrinkles, or redness, this product can help cover or heal these ailments.
When it came to the application process, we used nothing but our fingertips, but you can always spread it with a light brush. Still, the fact that it offers a bit of an oily feeling once you apply it is the main thing we are concerned about.
Taking everything into consideration, we were quite satisfied with how this RMS Concealer and Foundation performed.
- For all skin tones
- Lightweight and breathable
- Deep coverage
- Rich in fatty acids
- Oily feeling
Fifth & Skin Better’n Ur Skin Liquid Foundation
Up next, we will be presenting a foundation that is not only great for concealing flaws but also for protecting you from harmful UV rays. Available in Bronze, Honey Tan, Deep Tan, Beige, and a variety of other colors, it is an affordable, versatile product that we enjoyed using.
First and foremost, we want to highlight the composition of this product. According to the declaration, it is 100% natural and 90% organic, free of any harmful chemicals, and most importantly cruelty-free. The highlighting compounds are aloe vera juice, organic glycerine, Oryza sativa powder, and candelilla wax.
These work together to offer a building formula that allows 100% control. Thus, we had a lot of fun trying out multiple layers of this foundation and testing whether it was able to cover dark spots and blemishes. The results were quite impressive.
We were quite happy to notice that the finish is neither too dry nor too oily. Also, the real vanilla aroma that all of the Fifth and Skin foundations feature is quite pleasant. Keep in mind that we did go for the free trial option, which the manufacturer allows, and we didn’t have a reason to return it.
The only thing that we would improve is that the pump is quite hard, which makes the application process a bit tricky. Still, for the given price and considering the natural formula, we consider it a worthy choice.
- 100% natural
- Great sun protection
- Risk-free trial
- Hard to pump

Lastly, a multiple award winning foundation in 2020 by Ilia Beauty. This foundation received Allure’s Best Of Beauty Awards in the Clean Beauty category as well as Byrdie’s 2020 Eco Beauty Award along FIVE other awards! This is a remarkable formula. Trying out this formula made us discover a product to incorporate in our daily lives.
This formula contains Plant-Based Squalane, Niacinamide, and Hyaluronic Acid (Micro + Macro). It leaves our skin so hydrating, feeling fresh, luminous, and we were quite surprised how long it lasted, all while protecting from the UV rays. We were so happy to have found a formula that does it all.
One thing to note is that, we did test it with the Ilia True Skin Radiant Priming Serum as recommended. However, the two together created such a radiating effect that we didn’t even want to go without the serum.
In our opinions, Ilia Beauty is a definite buy.
- Gluten free
- SPF made from Zinc
- SPF is safe for the environment such as reefs.
- Fragrance free
- Silicone free
- Chemical screen-free
- Oil free
- Safe for sensitive skin
At the end of the day, we found all five products to be quite good at concealing flaws and hydrating skin. Our personal favorite is the Ilia’s Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 because of the reasonable price that it comes at and the spectacular formula that promotes healthy skin and a healthy environment.
Our second choice is Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation because of the reasonable price that it comes at and the spectacular formula that consists of fruit seed stem cells and botanical Phyto-Pigments.
For our third choice, we would recommend Fifth and Skin Better’n Ur Skin Liquid Foundation, which provides healing properties and natural sun protection.
